How Space Clearing & Decluttering Can Transform Your Energy, Home & Life

Have you ever looked around your home and just felt… exhausted?

Not because it’s dirty.

Not because it isn’t beautiful.

But because something about it feels heavy.

The overflowing cupboards.

The piles you keep meaning to sort.

The chair covered in clothes.

The drawer that barely closes.

The rooms that somehow leave you feeling more drained instead of rested.

And maybe you’ve been telling yourself:“When life calms down, I’ll sort it.”

But life never really slows down, does it?

So many people I work with tell me the same thing:“I’m doing all the manifestation work… but I still feel stuck.”

They’re journaling.

Visualising.

Saying affirmations.

Trying to stay positive.

Trying to hold it all together.

And yet life still feels harder than it should. Money feels like it disappears as quickly as it arrives. Relationships feel tense or emotionally draining. Their nervous system feels overwhelmed. Their mind never truly switches off.

And often, one of the missing pieces is their environment. Because your home is not separate from your energy. It’s deeply connected to it. Your home affects how you feel every single day, even when you don’t realise it.

In Feng Shui, we believe your environment is constantly communicating with your energy, your emotions and your nervous system. Your home either supports you… or quietly depletes you.

And this is why July is such a beautiful time for a reset.

The Energy of July in Feng Shui

July carries strong Fire energy in Feng Shui.

Think sunshine on your skin.

Long golden evenings.

Warmth.Movement.

Growth.

Expansion.

Nature is fully alive right now.

Flowers are blooming without apology.

Trees are thriving.

Everything feels brighter, fuller and more open.

And I think there’s something so healing about observing nature in Summer because it reminds us that growth is supposed to feel natural. Flowers don’t force themselves to bloom.Nature doesn’t hustle, everything expands when the conditions around it are supportive.

And honestly? Your home should feel like that too.

Your home should feel like somewhere that supports your growth. Somewhere your nervous system can soften. Somewhere that helps you breathe deeper instead of making you feel mentally overloaded the second you walk through the door.

Because when your home feels lighter, you often do too.

What Is Space Clearing?

I think sometimes people hear “space clearing” and imagine something complicated or intimidating, but really, it’s incredibly simple and beautiful. Space clearing is just the intentional practice of shifting stagnant or heavy energy within your home and inviting fresh, supportive energy back in.

Think of it like opening the windows after a long Winter.

An energetic exhale.

A reset for your home and for yourself.

Because over time, our spaces absorb energy.

Stress.

Arguments.

Illness.

Heartbreak.

Grief.

Overwhelm.

Busy everyday life.

And without realising it, that energy can linger.

Have you ever walked into a room and it just felt “off”? Or sat in a cluttered space and instantly felt anxious or overwhelmed? That’s energy too.

You may notice stagnant energy showing up as:

Feeling unsettled in your home

Low motivation

Poor sleep

Tension in relationships

Feeling emotionally heavy

Constantly feeling behind in life

And if your home feels chaotic, your nervous system often feels chaotic too. This is why space clearing can feel so powerful, it changes how your home feels emotionally and energetically.

Simple Ways to Space Clear Your Home This July

The beautiful thing is, you do not need to do everything perfectly.

You do not need a Pinterest home. You do not need complicated rituals. You do not need to clear your entire house in one weekend.

Small intentional shifts can completely change the feeling of a space.

Here are some gentle ways to begin this July:

Open Your Windows Daily

This sounds so simple, but it’s one of my favourite Feng Shui practices.

Open your windows in the morning and intentionally invite fresh energy into your home.

Imagine stagnant energy leaving.Imagine your home breathing again.

Bring Nature Indoors with fresh flowers & plants. Nature has a calming effect on our nervous system and instantly shifts the energy of a space.

Use Sound to Shift Energy

Bells, chimes, singing bowls or even clapping can help break up stagnant energy, especially in corners or rooms that feel heavy. I’ve even had clients use a wooden spoon and pan before, it doesn’t have to be fancy.

Declutter Slowly & Gently

This is your reminder that you do not need to transform your life overnight.

Start with:

One drawer

One shelf

One cupboard

That’s enough.

Small shifts create movement, movement creates momentum & momentum creates change.

Clear Intentionally

Palo santo, sage sprays, Incense sticks, completely shift how a home feels.

I also love finishing a space clearing with a beautiful rose spray because it instantly changes the atmosphere and brings such a soft loving energy into the home.

Set an Intention for Your Home

This part matters more than people realise.

Ask yourself:“How do I want my home to feel?”

Peaceful?

Grounding?

Abundant?

Creative?

Calm?

Safe?

Your intention becomes the energy you begin creating.

Things I Would Never Do in My Home as a Feng Shui Consultant

There are certain things I personally avoid because I know how deeply our environment impacts us emotionally and energetically.

I wouldn’t:

Keep broken items “just in case”

Overfill cupboards until they feel stressful to open

Keep things that carry heavy memories

Ignore clutter hotspots

Block entrances with piles of stuff

Hold onto things out of guilt

Because every single item in your home carries energy.

And your home should reflect the life you want to create,  not the stress you’re trying to escape from.

Your home should support you. Nourish you. Hold you.

Because when your environment changes, your energy often begins changing too.

So if you’ve been feeling stuck lately, If life has felt heavy, If your home has started feeling more overwhelming than comforting. Maybe this is your sign to create some space. Energetically. Emotionally. Physically.

You deserve a home that feels peaceful. A home that feels supportive. A home that feels like the universe has your back.

And if you’d love support creating that, my Feng Shui consultations are always here to help guide you through the process in a way that feels gentle, aligned and deeply transformational.
