How Feng Shui Can Support Your Health and Wellbeing

We all know every area of our lives is important, our family, work, relationships and finance, but how many of us put our own health at the bottom of the priority list? The truth is, when we feel well, everything else becomes easier. That's why your home should support your health and wellbeing, not drain your energy.

When people think about Feng Shui, they often think about attracting abundance, improving relationships or creating a beautiful home. Whilst Feng Shui can absolutely support all of those things, one of the most important areas it influences is actually your health.

What many people don't realise is that our homes have a profound impact on how we feel.

Your environment is communicating with you every single day.

It can either support your wellbeing, helping you feel calm, energised and balanced, or it can quietly contribute to feelings of stress, overwhelm and stagnation.

Your Home Reflects Your Energy

Have you ever noticed that when life feels chaotic, your home often starts to feel chaotic too?

Perhaps the washing pile grows larger, cupboards become overstuffed, paperwork accumulates on kitchen counters, and rooms begin to feel cluttered and overwhelming.

It's completely normal.

The challenge is that clutter doesn't just take up physical space, it takes up mental and emotional space too. Every unfinished project, every overflowing drawer and every pile waiting to be sorted can create a subtle sense of pressure in the background.

In Feng Shui, clutter represents stagnant energy. When energy becomes stagnant, it can leave us feeling stuck, exhausted, unmotivated, and unable to move forward.

Many of the people I work with come to me feeling as though they're doing everything "right."

They're working on their mindset.

They're practising gratitude.

They're visualising their goals.

They're trying to manifest positive changes.

Yet they still feel like they're taking two steps forward and one step back. Often, their homes are telling the same story.  When we begin to clear physical clutter, we're also creating space for fresh opportunities, fresh ideas, and fresh energy to enter.

The Connection Between Your Health Goals and Your Home

One of the things I often ask clients is, "Does your home support the life you're trying to create?"

Think about your own health goals. Perhaps you want to exercise more, meditate regularly, eat healthier or simply have more time to relax. Does your home make those habits easy, or does it make them harder?

I worked with a client who desperately wanted to build a regular yoga and meditation practice, but she kept telling me she couldn't find the time. As we looked around her home, we realised the issue wasn't just time, it was that there wasn't anywhere that invited her to practise.

She had a spare bedroom set up for guests that was rarely used. Together we transformed it into a space that supported her goals. We added a sofa bed for when visitors stayed, left her yoga mat permanently laid out, brought in candles and crystals for meditation, and created a peaceful, calming room she actually wanted to spend time in.

By making her health goals visible and giving them space within her home, it became much easier to build those habits into everyday life.

Sometimes it's not about finding more time, it's about creating an environment that naturally supports the life you want to live.

Every Area of Your Home Tells a Story

In Feng Shui, we divide a home into nine different areas, known as the Baguas. Each one represents a different aspect of your life, such as your career, relationships, family, wealth, reputation, helpful people and health.

What's fascinating is that these areas also relate to different parts of the body. When an area of the home feels neglected, cluttered or out of balance, it can sometimes reflect what's happening in our own lives and wellbeing.

I once worked with a client who had been struggling with frequent migraines. As part of his Feng Shui consultation, we mapped out the Baguas within his home and discovered that his north-west area, which is associated with the head, was his kitchen.

The space was full of clutter. Cupboards were overflowing, several doors were broken, and the tops of the cabinets were piled high with kitchen gadgets and appliances he thought he might use one day. The whole room felt heavy and overwhelming.

So he went on a Feng Shui journey with me. First of all we put the Feng Shui remedies in place, he decluttered the cupborads, repaired the broken cupboard doors and refreshed the kitchen so the energy could flow more freely.

Over the following weeks, his migraines gradually began to ease.

Of course, Feng Shui isn't a replacement for medical advice or treatment. However, the energy of our homes have a powerful influence on how we feel, and when we create spaces that feel lighter, calmer and more supportive, it can have a positive ripple effect on our overall wellbeing.

This is one of the reasons I love Feng Shui. It encourages us to look beyond the obvious and consider how our environment may be quietly supporting us, or holding us back.

Health Is About More Than Your Body

In Feng Shui, health isn't just about physical wellbeing.

It's also about emotional health, mental clarity, healthy relationships, feeling supported, and having the energy to pursue the life you want to create.

When your home supports your health, everything else often becomes easier too.

You’ll notice:

Improved sleep

Reduced stress

Better focus and concentration

Stronger relationships

Increased motivation

A greater sense of balance and harmony

Because when your environment works with you rather than against you, life tends to flow more smoothly.
