If you’re struggling with sleep, your bedroom environment might be playing a bigger role than you think.
In Feng Shui, your space isn’t just a backdrop it actively influences your energy, your mood, and how well you rest. The good news? You don’t need to repaint your walls or completely redesign your room to feel a difference.
Small, intentional shifts can have a powerful impact.
Here are five simple Feng Shui changes you can make right now to support deeper, more restful sleep.
1. Check Your Bed Position
Your bed is the most important element in your bedroom, it’s where your body restores and recharges.
Ideally, you want your bed in what’s known as the command position:
Your headboard is against a solid wall
You can see the door from your bed
But you’re not directly in line with it
This setup helps your body feel safe and supported, which is essential for quality sleep.
If moving your bed isn’t possible, don’t worry small adjustments like adding a rug, a bench at the foot of the bed, or even being mindful of what’s in your line of sight can still help shift the energy.
2. Clear the Clutter (Especially Under the Bed)
Clutter is one of the biggest disruptors of calm energy.
In Feng Shui, clutter blocks the natural flow of energy (Chi), creating stagnation and that often shows up as a busy mind at night.
Start small:
Clear anything unnecessary from under your bed
Keep surfaces simple and uncluttered
Remove items that carry heavy or emotional energy (like electrical equipment, anything related to work or exercising and any memory boxes etc)
If you do need to use the space under your bed, stick to soft, restful items like spare bedding, pj’s or towels.
A clear space creates a calmer mind and that leads to better sleep.
3. Create a Calm Evening Lighting Routine
Lighting has a direct impact on how your body prepares for sleep.
Bright, overhead lighting in the evening can keep your mind alert when it should be winding down.
Instead, try:
Switching to lamps or softer lighting in the evening
Dimming the lights about an hour before bed
Avoiding harsh, direct light above your bed
Think of lighting as part of your wind-down ritual. The softer it is, the easier it is for your body to relax.
4. Be Mindful of Mirrors and Reflections
Mirrors are powerful in Feng Shui because they reflect and amplify energy.
That’s great in some areas of your home, but not ideal when you’re trying to sleep.
If your mirror reflects your bed, it can create subtle restlessness or make your mind feel more active.
If possible:
Reposition mirrors so they don’t reflect you while you’re in bed
Or simply cover them at night
It’s a small change, but one many people notice makes a real difference.
5. Remove (or Reduce) Electronics
Your bedroom should feel like a retreat, not an extension of your workday or screen time.
Electronics bring active, stimulating energy into a space that should be calm and restorative.
If you can:
Keep your phone away from your bed
Remove TVs or large electronics
Turn off Wi-Fi overnight
If removing them completely isn’t realistic, try covering screens or placing them out of sight when not in use.
Even reducing their presence can help your mind switch off more easily.
Create a Space That Helps You Rest
You don’t need a complete bedroom makeover to sleep better.
Feng Shui is about working with your space in a simple, intentional way creating an environment that supports you rather than overstimulates you.
Start with one or two of these changes and notice how your space begins to feel.
Because when your bedroom feels calm, safe, and supportive… your body naturally follows

Love this. I do quite a couple of these things already but I love the sound of the others I don’t know! I’m definitely going to realign my mirrors and the bed position! Thank you for the tips!😁
